Divyanshi, age one and a half, was taken one hundred metres away after being mauled by a group of five dogs in the evening when she was close to the Dhobi Ghat gates.
“On Saturday, a few stray dogs attacked a girl in the Dhobi Ghat neighbourhood of the New Delhi Assembly, killing her. Today I got to meet the family of the deceased girl. When stray dogs are permitted to run around in residential neighbourhoods, it is a serious worry. The NDMC officials have been instructed to deal with this matter immediately. The Chief Minister wrote on Monday that the safety of the community and children is of the utmost importance.
According to officers, no one has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The victim’s father, Rahul Kanojia, learned that his daughter had been seriously injured in the event while he was making his way back from work. Bicycle riders noticed the dogs playing on the corner of the street and, upon closer examination, discovered it was my child, Kanojia had stated.
Divyanshi was taken straight to Safdarjung Hospital after doctors there pronounced her “dead on arrival.”
In a complaint filed at the Tughlakabad Lane police station on Sunday, Kanojia allegedly named the person who eats the stray dogs in the vicinity and asked that those in command face consequences. They ought to be investigated as well, and whoever is accountable for them ought to go to court.

The Animal Birth Restrictions (Dogs) Rules, 2001, required preventive measures and treatments to be taken by the local governments to reduce the number of stray dogs, as the NHRC understood the previous unlucky examples. Bengaluru put 20 crore for stray dogs
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has initiated a fresh initiative for stray dogs and introduced an effective strategy for tackling the problem of stray dogs
It includes using strong animal birth control methods, giving combination and anti-rabies vaccinations, and tracking using microchips.
Days after the BBMP administrator signed an action plan produced in this respect by the Palike’s animal husbandry department, the civic body published numerous tenders for the execution of the programmes at an expected cost of Rs 20 crore.
Around 2.8 lakh stray dogs were found in the city last year, according to BBMP officials, who conducted a survey for the local body. This year, the Palike will provide the anti-rabies vaccination (ABC) and combined vaccines (5 in 1) to stray animals for the first time in the city.
According to Palike officials, stray dogs will receive this combined vaccination to protect them from a condition known as parvovirus, parainfluenza virus, adenovirus type II, and canine distemper. The BBMP intends to vaccinate fifty percent of the city’s stray dogs at a cost of Rs 322 per dog. According to BBMP authorities, the Palike will require Rs 6 crore to carry out this scheme.
In addition to these combined vaccinations, BBMP will keep up its activities for anti-rabies vaccine (ARV) and animal birth control (ABC). To vaccinate 50% of the canine population, the city body will pay approximately Rs 55 lakh, or Rs 30 per dog for ARV. This year, the civic authority plans to perform animal birth control surgery at a cost of Rs 9.3 crore.
Additionally, the Palike will launch contracts for hiring organisations to supply 1.4 lakh microchips, which will be used for tracking stray dogs. The BBMP will fund the project with Rs. 3.8 crore. 80 microchip readers and 1.8 lakh microchips will be purchased by Palike.
An officer from the BBMP’s animal husbandry department stated, “We are planning to use microchips for 1.4 lakh dogs and are procuring 40,000 more for any contingency.”
The chip will keep information on the dog’s age, territorial identity, history of vaccinations, and other facts that will help prevent the need for more shots.
